Ralph Kershaw
April 8, 1949 - September 11, 2001Ralph Kershaw grew up in Manchester, Massachusetts and graduated from Manchester High School in 1967, leaving a 1966 State Championship Title win and a basketball legacy for generations to remember. As graduate of Boston University, Ralph began working with his father as a marine surveyor and took over the Ray Kershaw Company after his father passed away in 1979. Ralph rose to the top of his field and his expertise was sought worldwide. In October 1977 he became a member the National Association of Marine Surveyors (NAMS). Ralph played an active roll in this association serving as Vice President of the New England Region from 1986-1992. Over the years his passion for boats and marine technology grew exponentially, making him a leader in the field. Ralph also continued his love for the game of basketball by playing and helping to organize Mens Recreational Basketball for over 30 years. He was instrumental in carrying on the long-standing tradition of Mens Rec. basketball in Manchester and contributing to the Manchester Mens Basketball Scholarship Fund, which has been renamed in his memory. He and his wife Heidi also raised three children: Kristin, and twin sons Matthew and Jason. Ralph went through life spreading seeds of knowledge, encouragement and wisdom to everyone he touched. He loved life and lived it through his passion for basketball, boats and family. Ralph Kershaw is a man that will be deeply missed but remembered forever through the inspirations and lessons he left behind. |
